High Interest Question

Do you feel as though teenagers who read more do well in school oppose to teenagers who never read?

  1. I feel like people that read more will mainly do better in school then people that do not. I think this because I think people that do read will put in the time and effort to try in school. They may not be the smartest but definitely the most dedicated.

  2. I think that it doesn't matter either way if the people read of don't read during school. I think that reading doesn't really effect much, they just wont have as good as vocabulary as the people that do read.

  3. People who read in school are more likely to do better mainly because they aren't rushing to catch a concept last second but instead, they read thoroughly and have a wider range of knowledge than the non-reading students contain.

  4. I believe reading in school will boost test scores, and students are more inclined for success.

  5. I do not think that the amount a student reads has any effect on how well you would do in school because I know many people who never read and still maintain good grades. Also, most books that people read do not have anything to do with what you learn in school. Therefore, I do not think those who read get better grades.

  6. I believe that reading may help boost your grade in English because it could help maintain your vocabulary and out side knowledge but for any other class then I don't believe it would affect any other aspect of school.

  7. I feel that kids who read more could do better in classes that involve writing because their vocabulary will be more advanced, depending on what they read, than others might be, but otherwise one must work hard to achieve academic success.

  8. I believe reading may lead to an easier way to success because of the higher vocabulary you may have, but not reading wont make you not have success.

  10. I wouldn't say that people who read a lot have a huge advantage over people who don't. There are plenty of people who don't read a lot that do perfectly fine in school. I, personally, hate reading. I've never had trouble in school. I'm no overachiever, granted, but I do get good grades. So I believe that people who don't read excessively are perfectly capable of doing very well in school.

  11. I think that students who read are more inclined to do well on higher thinking prompts or assignments requiring extensive creative writing. However, our education system is not set up for creative and expressive writing as much as it caters to formal writing and test taking. So in the long run, i believe being an active reader will open your mind, but in today's education system it doesn't put them at that much of an advantage.
